Can you eat mango skin? The skin in mango contains a lot of important nutrients such as Vitamin E, Vitamin C, polyphenols, carotenoids, and dietary fiber as well as other important plant compounds.

And the skin also contains triterpenes and triterpenoids. Research studies show that a healthy diet that is high in Vitamin C, polyphenols, carotenoids can lower the risk of heart disease, cancer, and cognitive decline.

One of the negative things about eating mango skin is the potential pesticide residue on the skin. There are plenty of fruits and vegetables that are treated with pesticides to fight bacterial infection and insects that can damage crops. So, a high amount of pesticide exposure can lead to potential health issues such as damage to the endocrine system, potential reproductive problems, and a high risk of different types of cancers.

There are research studies that have shown that eating mangos can improve digestion and chronic constipation. Mangos is considered one of the sweetest fruits and the U.S Department of Agriculture recommends that adults should eat 1 ½ cup to 2 cups of fruit per day stay healthy.

The Bottom Line is eating mango skin is very healthy because of the fiber, carotenoid, and polyphenols content of it.
