Does Jasmine Tea have caffeine? Jasmine tea contains 15 to 60 mg of caffeine per one cup. And this depends on how long the tea leaves steep. Some of the health benefits of Jasmine tea is its antioxidants. And this helps to protects cells against radical free damage to heart disease, cancer and other chronic diseases.

Most people don’t realize that jasmine tea is made from green tea.  And green tea is high in polyphenols which is high in catechins. There was a review of some studies that showed that jasmine tea can increase your metabolism by 4 to 5% and increase fat burning by 10 to 16%. 4 to 5% doesn’t seem like that much but it could account for 70 to 100 calories per day.

Some research studies have shown that polyphenols can lower the risk of heart disease. In animal and test tube studies polyphenols in tea has been shown to protect against LDL cholesterol from oxidizing.  And this is a process that raises your risk of heart disease.

There was an analysis of 5 studies that showed that people who drank 3 cups or more of black or green coffee had a 21% lower risk of heart disease.  Other studies found that people who drank 1 to 3 cups of green tea per day had a 19% lower risk of heart attack and a 36% reduced risk of strokes.

Jasmine tea has several properties that can enhance brain activity such as caffeine. Caffeine can enhance the brain activity and assist the release of mood enhancing neurotransmitters like dopamine or serotonin.

The compound EGCG that is in green, or Jasmine tea can potentially help the lower risk of type 2 diabetes.  EGCG may help your body use insulin more effectively and reduce blood sugar levels.

There was analysis of 17 studies in over 1,000 people showed that green tea consumption reduced fasting blood sugar and insulin levels. Another review of 12 studies of over 760,000 people found that drinking 3 cups of more of tea was linked to a 16% lower risk of type 2 diabetes.

There was a study that reviewed 10 Japanese cups of green tea daily and it was supplemented with green tea extract. The result of this is it reduced the reoccurrence of colon cancer cells in people with colon cancer.

Drinking green tea has also been associated with a lower risk of prostate and breast cancer.
