What is Chai Tea? Chai tea is made up of black tea, ginger and a lot of spices. Chai is traditionally brewed with warm water and warm milk. There are some research studies that shows that chai tea may be good for the health of your heart. Animal studies have shown that cinnamon can lower blood pressure and it is one of the main ingredients in chai tea.

In some research studies, it is has shown that cinnamon can help reduce total cholesterol levels by up to 30%. Chai tea has been shown to contribute better blood sugar control in research. The cinnamon in chai tea may reduce insulin resistance and fasting blood sugar levels by 10 to 29%.

Chai tea contains ginger which is known for helping relieving nausea. It is effective at reducing nausea during pregnancy. There was a review of over 1000 studies that showed a daily dose of 1.1 to 1.5 grams of ginger significantly reduced nausea.

Some other ingredients show that Chai tea contains is cinnamon and cloves which has strong antibacterial properties. This can help fight digestive issues caused by bacteria infections.

Research studies have shown that Chai tea can help with reducing hunger and promoting the feeling of fullness.  The result of this is weight loss because it suppresses your appetite while consuming less calories.

One cup of Chai tea contains about 25 mg of caffeine and that is half the dosage in one cup of black tea. Individuals should avoid consuming more than 400 mg of caffeine per day and during pregnancy no more than 200 mg of caffeine.
