Does Coke Zero have caffeine? Coke Zero has 34 mg of caffeine per 12 oz can. And this is much less caffeine that anybody would find in one cup of coffee which is 95 mg of caffeine. Coke Zero has 0 calories and the premise behind the creation of this product is to try to create a healthier soda. And also, to appeal to people that want a healthier version of coke. Although using the word healthy Coke zero or Diet Coke is extremely questionable.

Coke Zero’s ingredients includes:

  • Caramel Color
  • Aspartame
  • Phosphoric acid
  • Potassium citrate
  • Acesulfame potassium
  • Potassium benzoate

One serving of Coke Zero contains:

  • Calories- 0
  • Total Fat- 0 grams

  • Caffeine- 34 mg

The two differences between Coke Zero and Diet Coke is the sweeteners it uses and the caffeine content. Diet Coke uses an aspartame as a sweetening agent and Coke Zero uses aspartame and acesulfame potassium. Coke Zero has less caffeine than Diet Coke.

The amounts of caffeine of both Coke Zero and Diet Coke is less than the recommended healthy daily caffeine limit of 400 mg. Diet Coke and Coke is remarkably similar in taste and their nutritional profiles of each almost parallel one another.

Some of the potential side effects to drinking any of these two drinks are:

Aspartame which is a sweetener that both Coke Zero and Diet coke use can cause headaches for some people, and this is according to the American Migraine Foundation. There are some other studies that have said that aspartame is carcinogenic. It is important to know that the Food Drug and Administration, (FDA) views aspartame is safe.

Coke Zero and Diet Coke is not a healthy drink despite any marketing ads you see pushing this narrative. If you have a desire to go from Coke to Diet Coke or Coke Zero, the only advantage is less sugar and caffeine, but it is not healthy at all.

Some of the best alternatives to Zero Coke is water. Water is one of the healthiest beverages you can drink. Even if you want to add some lemon in your water to add some flavor that will always help. But drinking water is your best healthy choice even flavored water isn’t a bad alternative option.

The Bottom Line is Coke Zero does have caffeine, but it is in no way a healthy beverage. But it is healthier than drinking coke. Water will always be your best alternative healthy option when it comes to drinking a healthy beverage.
