What are the benefits of developing strong back muscles? First, a strong back helps with good posture and good posture is one of the best ways to prevent back pain. A strong back allows you to bend down and perform daily simple tasks like gardening, picking up a pen or pencil on the floor and among other things. When you focus on strength-training when it comes to your lower and upper back it helps with preventing back pain.

 Especially if you are desk office worker and you are sitting down for prolonged periods of time. Legs is the largest muscle in the body and your back is a close second. So, the back is one of the biggest and strongest muscles in the body. So, when you train this back bodypart in a fitness workout it expends a lot of energy because of how big the muscle is.

What are the benefits of developing strong back muscles?

So, let’s talk about the good morning exercise which is quite unique. And I do not know too many people that do this exercise. Many people think it is a primary back exercise but that is incorrect. The  primary bodypart that it works is the hamstrings. And the secondary muscles it works is your glutes/butt, adductor magnus also known as your inner thigh, erector spinate which runs down the length of your spine. And it also works the lower back muscle as a secondary muscle.

So, the good morning exercise works the lower back muscles, but it works them in a secondary way not a primary way. The primary muscles it works is the hamstrings. Now how do we do execute this fitness workout?

 Stand with your feet shoulder width apart with a bend in your knees and try to brace your core. Put a barbell that is not too heavy on top of your shoulders, so the bar rests on your traps. Exhale while hinging at the hips, sending your hips backwards and your upper body forward. Stop once your upper body is parallel with the floor and make sure you inhale while coming back up to the starting position.
