How many calories do you burn in a day? Depending on your age and your sex your metabolic rate can potentially burn 1,300 to 2000 calories per day with no physical activity level. Your body burns calories to breathe, think and pump blood to your heart, etc.

Basil Metabolic Rate

Your basil metabolic rate refers to the minimum number of calories that your body needs to function properly.

Your resting metabolic rate is based on several different factors such as:

  • Age
  • Height
  • Weight
  • Genetic
  • Sex
  • Muscle To Fat Ratio

Is it possible to change your Metabolic Rate?

You can change your metabolic rate by adding more lean muscle to your body. Lean muscle mass requires your body to use more energy at rest. It heightens up the temperature on the calorie burn and the more lean muscle mass you put on the faster your metabolism will be.

So, if your goal is to lose weight make sure that you are doing it in a way that it doesn’t impact your ability to lose any lean muscle mass tissue. If you lose lean muscle mass during the weight loss process it can slow your metabolic rate.

Also, if you are getting enough protein in your diet that will impact your ability to build and maintain lean muscle mass.

This is the Basil Metabolic rate data based off the Center For Disease Control and Prevention, (CDC). This is the average metabolism calorie-burn by age if you are sedentary.

Age 20:- 2020 calories/Males /1,559 calories-females

Age 30:- 1.964 calories/Males /1,516 calories-females

Age: 40: 1,907 calories/ Males/ 1,417 calories-females

Age: 50: 1,850 calories/ Males/ 1,429 calories- females

Age: 60: 1,793 calories/ Males/ 1,386 calories- females

Age: 70: 1,737 calories/ Males/ 1,343 calories- females

Age: 80: 1,680 calories/ Males/ 1,300 calories- females

What most people don’t know is your basal metabolic rate accounts for about 60 to 70% of your daily calorie burn. And the remaining calories left are used when you start moving around.

The Bottom Line is you can naturally burn on an average around 1300 to 2000 calories per day without any physical activity level. This is based off your basil metabolic rate. And the best way to heighten your basal metabolic rate is to increase your protein intake and light weights regularly.
