What is paleo? The paleo diet is a diet that resembles what hunters gather ancestors used to eat about thousands of years ago. The paleo diet incorporates foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, herbs, fish, eggs, unprocessed meats, etc.

Some of the foods you want to avoid are processed foods, added sugar, soft drinks, and additional artificial sweeteners. Additional foods you want to avoid on the paleo diet is:
- Table sugar, candy, ice cream, pastries.
- Grains such as wheat bread, pasta, barley, cereal.
- Legumes such as beans, lentils, etc.
- Dairy foods such as butter, cheese, etc.
Some of the main foods to avoid eating on the paleo diet is:
- Meat: turkey, fish, pork, beef.
- Vegetables: broccoli, spinach, carrots, tomatoes, etc.
- Nuts and Seeds: almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds.
The drinks that are accepted on the Paleo diet are tea, coffee and of course water because it’s great for hydration and overall health purposes. If you are eating fruits, vegetables, and nuts then you are within the parameters of the paleo diet.
The main food groups the Paleo diet eliminates are legumes, dairy and gluten grains. Legumes is one of the primary protein sources for vegans and vegetarians so they would have a problem being on the paleo diet. The Paleo diet isn’t for everybody, that is why it is best to try it out and see if your body can adapt and digest it.
Some indulgences and cheats that you can eat in tiny amounts in the paleo diet are dark chocolates and red wine.
