What is the best time to take magnesium? It doesn’t matter the time in terms of the effectiveness as the most important thing is the consistency and frequency of taking the magnesium. Research studies have shown that magnesium can improve blood sugar control, prevent migraine attacks, reduce blood pressure levels, etc.

The Recommended Daily Allowance, (RDA) for all healthy adults is anywhere between 310 to 420 mg daily for adults. It is best to be taken with food, so you don’t experience any side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, digestive issues, etc.

Research Studies

A research review study in 130 people who had migraines revealed that taking a magnesium supplement decreased their migraine frequency over the course of 90 days.

Another study revealed in 112 adults that when they took magnesium it decreased their symptoms of depression.

And lastly another study in 46 adults showed that when they took 500 mg of magnesium daily for 8 weeks that it improved their insomnia and the amount of time it took them to go to sleep.

So, these review studies show that there are a lot of positive health benefits to taking magnesium supplements.

If you are taking any antibiotics try to give yourself at least 2 hours before or 4 to 6 hours afterwards when it comes to taking magnesium supplements. That time limit gives it a good buffer and time distance for full effectiveness and absorption purposes.

It is important when taking magnesium supplements to be careful of the types of medications you take outside of that. And making sure you are not taking it all at the same time. If you do it could affect the absorption and effectiveness of the magnesium supplements you are taking.

The Bottom Line is doesn’t matter the time of the day on when you are taking magnesium supplements. You just need to make sure that you are not taking it around the same time as other medications as that can negatively the effectiveness and absorption rates.
