What creatine does is it is a source of energy for your cells. And it is naturally produced by your kidneys, liver, pancreas. You can acquire creatine from consuming red meat and fish. If you decide to take creatine in a dietary supplement form the positive effects of it is the more creatine you take is available in your muscles. And when you have higher creatine levels your muscles can generate more energy.

The two strengths of what creatine can do to the body are increase lean muscle mass and increase athletic performance. This is why this dietary supplement is very popular among athletes at all levels. One of the side effects of taking too much creatine in dietary supplements is water retention.

And water retention can potentially lead to dehydration and cramps. There have been some complaints about creatine potentially affecting your kidneys, but a 2008 review study showed that creatine has no negative effects on your kidney functionality in healthy individuals.

If you are experiencing hair loss, then you should talk to a doctor, but creatine has no effect on hair loss based on all research studies on this. Many causes of hair loss are treatable with medication.

The Bottom Line is research studies have shown that Creatine is not directly associated with hair loss. But it is important to know that Creatine is a safe dietary supplement that is popular among fitness enthusiasts to build and maintain lean muscle mass.
