Why can’t I lose weight? One of the reasons why you probably aren’t losing weight is because you are eating a lot of bad junk food that has a lot of empty calories. There is a saying that you are what you eat. And the quality of the calories and the quantity of calories is what dictates weight loss vs weight gain.

One of the best ways to lose weight is to be mindful of the number of calories you eat and consume. Keeping track of this in a daily diary or notebook will help you lose weight. Research studies show that keeping track of your daily calorie food intake in a diary helps with weight loss.

People who keep track of their calories and the food they eat in a notebook lose more weight than the people who don’t. When you prioritize eating more fiber in your diet like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains this will help make you fuller and suppress your appetite. Eating fruits and vegetables will make your stomach feel fuller and make you eat less food.

The number of calories that you consume daily is critical to weight loss. And there are a lot of empty calories in things like drinking alcohol or eating out a lot at fast food restaurants. If you do this often it may be one of the reasons why you aren’t losing weight. Exercise is also critical to losing weight and if you are not doing any form of physical activity this will inhibit your ability to lose weight.

The types of cardiovascular exercises you can do are walking, jogging, gardening, dancing, swimming, etc. The types of resistance training exercises you can do are resistance band exercises, dumbbell free weights, weight-lifting machines, bodyweight workouts like push-ups, dips, body squats, etc.

Cardiovascular exercises allow you to raise your heart rate and burn calories during the workout. And weight-training exercises allow you to burn calories at and after the workout.

Another thing that could be causing you not to lose weight is you are probably not eating enough food. If you don’t eat enough food, it can put your body into starvation method and slow your metabolism, making it difficult for you to lose weight.

People think the less food you eat the more weight you lose but if you don’t eat enough, meaning more than 1000 calories a day it can be counterproductive to weight loss.

If you have a medical condition like hypothyroidism or have imbalanced hormones that can also make it difficult for you to lose weight.

The Bottom Line is if you have a diet that consists of protein foods like chicken and fish. And fiber foods like fruits, vegetables and you exercise regularly like cardiovascular and weight-training you will be able to lose and manage your weight. Consuming empty calories like drinking alcohol or eating a lot of processed junk food will make it difficult for you to lose weight.
