Is yogurt high in protein? Yogurt contains about 12 grams of protein per 8 ounces so yes, it is high in protein. One of the reasons why yogurt is so popular is because of the high protein content in it. Protein is one of the most important macronutrients you can ever consume.

Yogurt is known to contain a good amount of calcium which is needed for healthy teeth and bones. One cup of yogurt provides 49% of your daily calcium needs. It is also high in B vitamins, and it has Vitamin B12 and riboflavin.

Most people don’t know that Greek yogurt contains more protein than regular yogurt. Greek yogurt contains 20 grams of protein per 7-ounce cup. Another health benefit of yogurt is the live bacteria and probiotics that are in it.

Some of the types of probiotics found in yogurts are bifidobacteria and lactobacillus. Studies have shown that these probiotics can lower the risk of acquiring Irritable Bowel Syndrome, (IBS) or bloating.
