Here are some of the symptoms of hypotension which is:

  • Dizziness- Feeling off balanced.
  • Blurry vision- having problem seeing and having unclear vision.
  • Nausea- The feeling that you want to vomit.
  • Clammy skin- Feeling damp and sweaty touch.
  • Depression- Feeling of sadness and a lack of hope.
  • Fatigue- Lack of energy
  • Light-headedness- Feeling faint and that you are going to pass out.

Here are some conditions that can cause low blood pressure.

  • Pregnancy- Because of the increased demand of blood flow to the fetus and pregnant person.
  • Blood Infections
  • Dehydration- If you vomit and can’t keep liquids down.
  • Impaired circulation- This can be caused by any heart condition or heart attack.
  • Anaphylactic shock- A bad allergic reaction.
  • A large blood loss to injury.

Here are some medications that can cause low blood pressure:

  • Beta blockers
  • Diuretics
  • Erectile dysfunction drugs
  • Antidepressants
  • Nitroglycerin

One of the best ways to avoid low blood pressure, also known as hypotension, is drinking plenty of water and staying hydrated.  And hydration is very important especially if you are vomiting and have diarrhea.

If you stand or sit up quickly that can cause immediate low blood pressure and you can experience light headedness from this. It is important to understand your emotional or stress triggers. Because emotional and stress triggers can cause your blood pressure to drop dramatically.

If your blood pressure drops to the dangerously low status this can cause your vital organs to malfunction because they aren’t receiving enough blood to work properly. This can cause your body to go into shock and those symptoms can cause:

  • Rapid breathing
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat
  • Cool clammy skin

For treatment of hypotension/low blood pressure a doctor will recommend a lifestyle change, some form of medical treatment or both. If you have extreme vitamin deficiencies that can cause a dip in lowering your blood pressure.

According to a 2010 review study, low blood pressure is common among older adults and people that have autonomic dysfunction. Postprandial hypotension is a drop in blood pressure after eating food.

It is important to know for people what is your blood pressure. Your blood pressure is made up of two measurements which is when your heart beats and the period of rest in between beats.

Systolic pressure– is the measurement of blood pumping through the arteries when the ventricles of the heart squeezes. The systolic pressure supplies your body with blood.

Diastolic pressure– Is the measurement for the periods of rest. Diastolic pressure supplies your heart with blood filling the coronary arteries.

Your blood pressure is made up of two numbers and the first is the systolic and the second one is the diastolic. If you have a lower blood pressure than 120/80 than this is considered low. Hypotension in adults is considered anything lower than 90/60.

The Bottom Line is the causes of low blood pressure can be lifestyle factors, diuretics, beta blockers, erectile dysfunction drugs, etc.
