What is the best green tea for weightloss? Drinking green tea has been associated with weight loss because of the antioxidants and catechins. There have been research studies that have linked green tea to body fat and weight loss. It is considered one of the most effective teas when it comes to weight loss.

There was a 2008 study where 60 obese people followed a standardized diet for 12 weeks while drinking green tea and a placebo. During the study it showed that those who drank green tea lost 7.3lbs more weight than the placebo group.

Green Tea

Another research study revealed that people who consumed green tea extract for 12 weeks experienced significant decreases in body weight and body fat.

Green tea is high in antioxidants called catechins. And this is known for boosting your metabolism and increasing your fat burning.  

Black Tea

Black tea is known to be effective at helping with weight management. There was a research study that found that drinking 3 cups of black coffee per day for 3 months significantly increased their weightloss vs drinking a caffeinated beverage.

There was another study that reviewed over 4,000 people over 14 years. And it found that those who had a higher flavone intake from foods and beverages were similar to black tea. And they had a lower body mass than people who had a lower flavone intake.

Black tea is high in flavones and has been linked to lower BMI, lower waist circumference and reduction in weight.

Oolong Tea

Another popular tea is oolong tea which is known to help with weight loss, speed up your metabolism and improve fat burning. There was a research study that had 102 overweight and obese people who drank oolong tea for 6 weeks. The result of the study showed they reduced their bodyweight and bodyfat. The researchers believed this happened because the tea improved the metabolism of fat in the body.

There was another small 3-day study where men drank oolong tea and drank water. The study revealed that oolong tea increased their energy expenditure by 2.9% and this is the equivalent of burning an additional 281 calories per day on an average.

Herbal Tea

Herbal tea has been shown to reduce body fat and lose weight in obese rats from a research study. It also showed it helped to normalize its hormone levels.

White Tea

White tea is like green tea because it has the same amount of catechins, and research studies show that these catechins help in improving weight loss.
