What are the health benefits of kombucha? Drinking kombucha is a type of a tea that provides a lactic acid bacteria which may have a probiotic function. Probiotics provides your gut health with good bacteria. And good healthy bacteria helps with digestion, inflammation and sometimes even weight loss.

Kombucha is made from green tea, and it comes from the same plant compounds as black or green tea. Most people know green tea has a lot of great health benefits. There are studies that have shown that green tea can help regulate blood sugar, improve cholesterol levels, and reduce bellyfat. And there are also studies that show that green tea can reduce the risk of prostate cancer, colon cancer and breast cancer.

Liver Toxicity

There have been rats studies that have showed kombucha reduces liver toxicity that is caused by toxic chemicals.  No human studies exist yet when it comes to liver disease.  There are antioxidants in kombucha which helps to fight free radicals that can potentially damage your cells.

Heart Disease and Cholesterol

Studies have shown in rats that kombucha reduced their cholesterol levels in 30 days. Research suggests that if you drink green tea there is up to a 31% lower risk of developing heart disease and this also applies to kombucha.

Diabetes

There was a review study on about 300,00 people and it showed that green tea drinkers had an 18% lower risk of being diabetic. A study that was done on diabetic rats found that kombucha slowed down the digestion of carbs and the result was reduced blood sugar levels. It also the improved the rat’s liver and kidney function.

Cancer

When it comes cancer test tube studies suggest that kombucha helped prevent the growth and spread of cancerous cells because of its high concentration of tea polyphenols and antioxidants. Kombucha can be purchased at the store or online. Try to look at the back of the ingredients on the package to make sure there is no added sugar. It is important to keep the added sugar at a minimum from a health perspective.
