Is intermittent fasting for over 60 good for your health? Well surprisingly there was a study that was done on a group of women of 45 people that was over 60. They did intermittent fasting for 16 hours a day and the result of that study was 2KG of weight-loss and this happened over a 6-week period. So, there was a decrease in bodyfat mass and weight loss.

What is intermittent fasting? Intermittent fasting is not eating food during a specific timeframe period.

Intermittent Eating Methods

  • And some of the methods are the 16/8 theory which is fasting for 16 hours and eating for 8 hours.
  • Or the 12/12 theory which is eating for a 12-hour period and fasting for a 12-hour period.
  • And then there is also the 5:2 method which is eating healthy 5 days a week. And then limiting your calories to 500 to 600 calories per day during those 2 days of the week.
  • And lastly there is the alternate day method which is you eat normal every other day. So, if you eat 2,000 calories in one day then you eat 500 calories on the next day. On your fasting days you consume 25% of what you eat on your normal daily calorie days.
  • The 24-hour method is fasting for 24 hours before eating again. Some people who use this method usually do this once a week. An example is that they will fast from breakfast to breakfast or lunch to lunch.

When your body enters the fasting zone, it triggers your fat stores to be utilizes as fuel and the result is causing you to burn body fat for energy. Fasting has been around since the old ancient times, and it is common in some religious cultures like the Muslims religion during Ramadan.

One of the negative things about fasting is most people that wait for prolonged periods of times to eat; when they do eat, they end up overeating. Very few people have the discipline when they are so hungry to not overeat.
