What are the benefits of using extra virgin olive oil? Well olive oil is a natural oil extracted from olives and it comes from the fruit of an olive tree. Olive Oil is formed by crushing the fruit of that olive. Any oil that is obtained manually without any chemicals or heat is extra virgin olive oil. Olive oil contains about 30% oil, and it used prominently in the Mediterranean Diet. And many dieticians, health experts and the American Heart Association say it is a heart healthy diet.

Olive oil can help with joint pain and rheumatoid arthritis especially if you combine that with fish oil. Fish has anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids properties.

It can also help in improving brain functionality and there are some studies that have shown that olive oil can lower the risk of Alzheimer’s disease. More extensive research is still needed to really validate this claim.

There have been several studies that have shown olive oil can lower the risk of strokes. And stroke is the one of the most common causes of death next to heart diseases. Because olive oil has monosaturated fat it is associated with lower incident of strokes or heart diseases.
