Why are 70% of Americans overweight or obese? Over 50% percent of adults in this country is either overweight or obese but we have a billion-dollar fitness industry. Does that make sense? Why are so many unhealthy but the fitness industry is generating billions of dollars annually? Part of it there is too much information on the internet. And it is hard for the average consumer to differentiate between what is correct vs what is not correct.

Why are 70% of Americans overweight or obese?

So adult obesity and obesity among children rises because of this misinformation. Also, it is more expensive to eat healthy then it is to eat at a fast-food restaurant. So, the socioeconomics of buying healthy food affects many people who are on a limited income or poor.

Also, everybody thinks they are a fitness expert and nutritionist expert unfortunately without the proper credentials to validate this. How self-defeating is it to try every diet program in the world but have no success? That happens to a lot of fitness and health enthusiasts who desperately want to get healthy.

Have you ever heard of the saying that 80% of losing weight is the diet? It is true you cannot out-exercise a bad diet and the number of calories you consume, and good calories will dictate weight-loss vs weight gain. Of course, exercise is important when it comes to weight-loss, but it is difficult to burn 1,500 calories of pizza and hamburgers in just one day. Hence why your diet and nutrition are what matters the most when trying to establish healthy fitness and weight-loss goals.

Why are 70% of Americans overweight or obese? Over 50% percent of adults in this country is either overweight or obese but we have a billion-dollar fitness industry. What is a caloric deficit? It is the number of calories a person consumes in a day that is smaller than the number of calories burn. And a good golden rule for weight loss is five hundred calories for a deficit per day. And that puts you at losing a lb. per week and a healthy weight-loss is 1 to 2 pounds per week. To lose weight or bodyfat you need to be in caloric deficit.

To create that caloric deficit, it comes down to how many calories you consume whether it is 1,200 or up to 1,600 calories per day. And it also comes down to how many calories you burn in a day. You may have a goal of burning 1,500 calories in a day with workouts and your daily healthy lifestyle activity.

Why are 70% of Americans overweight or obese?
