Which is best the cardio or aerobics? Aerobic exercise and cardio exercise are the same exact thing. It’s like saying what is the difference between anaerobic workout vs weight-lifting. Those two are the same exact things just using different words to describe those terms.

There really isn’t any difference between the two and both terms refer to improving fitness through by increasing your oxygen intake and heart rate. 

Aerobic means oxygen and anaerobic means without oxygen. When you are doing an aerobic workout, you will end up using a steady supply of oxygen during exercise while burning both fat and carbohydrates for energy. It gets your heart rate up for an extended period and it boosts your fitness conditioning level as well as your heart and lungs.

A regular cardio or aerobic workout will reduce the risk of quite a bit of health diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, stroke, etc.  Your heart is the important muscle of the body, and that heart needs a daily cardio workout to stay healthy.

The American Heart Association recommends 150 minutes of a workout per week to maintain a healthy heart. That comes out to 30 minutes a day of walking about 5 days a week.  And anybody can do that whether you are 25 years or 80 years old. A 30 minute walk a day keeps the doctor away.

So, what types of aerobic or cardiovascular exercise can I do? You can do jogging, swimming, running, dancing, walking, bicycling, stair steps, jumping jacks, high knees. After you do an intense cardio fitness workout it is important to hydrate your body right away because you will be dehydrated because of how much sweat you expended. So, hydrating your body with water or some electrolyte drink will help replenish your body. If you don’t hydrate within a reasonable amount of time, you could experience unnecessary cramps.

If you want to maintain a healthy heart don’t ever neglect incorporating some type of cardiovascular fitness workout routine. Your fitness goal should be to maintain muscle mass, sustain a healthy heart with short bursts of aerobic and anaerobic exercise. And stay healthy with good nutrition so your inside is as healthy as your outside.
