Why do I poop so much? Regular bowel movements are a sign that your digestive system is functioning well. There are certain foods and beverages that can stimulate your digestive system and help you poop. These include fiber foods, drinking water and caffeinated beverages.

The reason high fiber foods are so important is because they help to strengthen colon health, prevent heart disease, help to maintain blood sugar levels, and prevent constipation by increasing the size and softness of your stools.

When you drink more water that can contribute to excessive pooping because fiber absorbs water and helps flush waste from your body.

Exercising regularly can help increase your physical activity levels and can help make bowel movements. Exercise can help improve your digestive processes and increase muscle contractions in your colon to help move stools more regularly.

Menstruation can trigger an increase in bowel movements. Pregnancy can also change how often you poop, and constipation is more common during the first trimester than diarrhea.

If you are lactose intolerant eating certain dairy products can cause an increase in bowel movements. Dairy products with high lactose include milk, cheese, ice cream, custard, etc.

Another autoimmune disease that can cause inflammation and discomfort is Crohn’s disease. One of the inflammations that causes symptoms are:

  • Excessive pooping
  • Abdominal pain
  • Weight loss
  • Fatigue
  • Severe diarrhea
  • Loss of appetite

Another auto immune disease that causes bowel movement disorders is IBS which is Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Some of the symptoms of this are bloating, abdominal pain, loose stools with diarrhea and sudden urges with bowel movement.

One of the best ways to maintain bowel regularity is drinking lots of water, eating a high fiber diet and consuming a minimal number of processed foods and sugar. One of the best ways to be mindful of what types of foods you are eating is by logging all your foods in a food journal.

The Bottom Line is one of the reasons why people poop regularly because they are on a high fiber diet, and they are consuming a high amount of water daily. Pooping regularly means you have a healthy digestive system.
