  • Vitamin B-12
  • Iron- Cholera has a good source of iron.
  • Protein- Chlorella has about 50 to 60% protein. It has all the nine essential amino acids as it is a complete protein.
  • It contains Omega 3’s and 3 grams of chlorella contains about 100 grams of Omega 3’s.
  • Other vitamins and minerals it contains are magnesium, zinc, copper, potassium, calcium, folic acid, B vitamins, etc.

There have been some animal and human studies that have revealed that chlorella can improve your immune system. One study showed that chlorella supplements increased the immune system in people who were the ages of 50 to 55 than people who were not over 55.

Several studies have shown that taking chlorella supplements can help lower cholesterol levels. Those same research studies show that taking 5 to 10 grams of chlorella daily lowered LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels.

Chlorella supplements have been shown through several studies to support healthy blood pressure levels. One study showed that people who had high blood pressure who took 4 grams of chlorella daily for 12 weeks. At the end of the 3 months, they had lower blood pressure levels than the placebo group.

Chlorella has been shown in a couple of studies to improve aerobic endurance. A research study group gave young adults 6 grams of chlorella and placebo group daily for one month. At the end of the study the chlorella group showed an improvement in their aerobic endurance.

Some of the possible side effects to chlorella are nausea or abdominal comfort. There isn’t any scientific evidence that specifies the exact dose you should take. But the studies that are out there show that taking 1.2 grams per day is best for optimal overall health performances.

The Bottom Line is chlorella, a nutrient dense alga that has a tremendous amount of health benefits. Alternatively, it is available in supplement form and contains a lot of vitamins and minerals. Some of the health benefits are lowering cholesterol levels, supporting healthy pressure levels, improving aerobic endurance levels, etc.
