Does water before bed help with weight loss? Drinking water before bed will not expedite your weight loss. But drinking up to 8 glasses of water per day in general will help to suppress your appetite. While making you feel fuller and in return help you lose weight. Research studies have shown that 3 out of 4 Americans don’t drink enough water in the day.

55% of your body is made up of water if you are a woman. And 60% of your body is made up of water if you are a man. What a lot of people don’t realize is your brain is influenced by your hydration status.  1 to 3% dehydration to your body can impair certain aspects of brain function.

Headaches

A fluid loss of 1 to 3% equals 1.5 to 4.5 pounds of body weight loss if you are a 150-pound person. Dehydration is known to cause headaches and migraines in individuals.

Constipation

Drinking water regularly and hydrating daily is linked to a decrease constipation. Research studies have shown that low water consumption is a risk factor for constipation in kids and the elderly.

One of the best ways to get over a hangover is drinking lots of water. Because one of the symptoms of hangover is dehydration because alcohol is like a diuretic.  Alcohol makes you lose water that you take in which leads to dehydration.

Drinking water before bed will not make you lose weight any faster but drinking water before meals will make you feel fuller. And the result is eating fewer calories which would lead to weight loss. There was a research study where dieters drank 16.9 ounces of water before meals. And they ended up losing 44% more weight over a 12-week period than dieters who didn’t drink water before meals.

A 2013 research study in 50 young overweight women drank an additional 16.9 ounces of water, 3 times a day before meals for 8 weeks. The result of this study led to a reduction in body weight and body fat compared to their pre research study measurements.

The Bottom Line is drinking water before bed will not make you lose weight any faster. But drinking water before you eat a meal will make you feel full and eat fewer calories. And the result of this will lead to weight loss if you drink up to 8 glasses of water or more daily.
