What are the health benefits of black seed oil? Research studies have shown that it has been used for the treatment of asthma and weight loss. And it has been used topically for the health of the skin and hair. Black seed oil has been used for centuries in traditional medicine.

Black seed oil is rich in thymoquinone and there are studies that have suggested that this compound can protect brain health and help treat all types of cancer.  There are research studies that have suggested that thymoquinone can help in treating people who have asthma by reducing inflammation and relaxing the muscles in the airway.

Improving asthmatic conditions

There was a small study in 80 adults who had asthma who took 500 mg of black seed oil for 4 weeks and it significantly improved their asthma.

It can possible lower blood sugar levels

There were research studies that showed that people who had type 2 diabetes; when they took 2 grams of black seed oil per day it significantly reduced their blood sugar levels and hemoglobin levels.

It may lower cholesterol levels

Research studies have shown that it can possibly lower cholesterol levels. There was a small study in 90 people with high cholesterol levels that observed that consuming 2 teaspoons of black seed oil after breakfast for 6 weeks reduced LDL bad cholesterol levels.

Another study in 70 healthy adults that took ½ teaspoon of black seed oil twice a day for 8 weeks. And it significantly reduced their blood pressure levels compared to the placebo group.

It may be good for skin

There were some research studies that showed it helped improve skin conditions such as eczema, acne, dry skin, and psoriasis.

Some of the other health benefits are reducing symptoms of arthritis and antifungal activities.
