There was a small clinical trial that showed that taking a cold shower improved patients that had depression. The people that took a shower in this clinical trial did it for 5 minutes about 2 to 3 times a week.

The theory behind the cold shower is that it can send electrical impulses to the brain.  It can jolt your system to increase alertness, clarity and heighten your energy levels. The effects of this are a feeling of optimism and positivity.

Cold Water or Cold Showers Can Help Improve Circulation

Cold showers can possibly help make your circulation system more efficient.  Research studies have shown that when athletes get an injury and ice is applied to the injury it will help reduce the swelling and inflammation.

And it does this by bringing down the temperature of the injury. And speeding up the delivery of warmer oxygenated blood in the area. And the result of that is it helps to speed up the recovery of the injury.
