What are the top maca root benefits? Some of the maca root benefits are increasing libido, boosting energy and endurance, improving mood, reducing blood pressure, increasing fertility, reducing menopause symptoms. Maca is a plant grown in the Andes mountains and it is a cruciferous vegetable like broccoli or kale.

There is some scientific evidence that maca root can increase your libido. There was a study in 2002 that revealed that men who took 1.5 or 3 grams of maca per day experienced increased libido and sexual desire. There was also a 2015 study that showed that maca root reduced sexual dysfunction in postmenopausal women who were taking an antidepressant.

Maca contains flavonoids which are known to improve anxiety and mood. A research study in 14 postmenopausal women showed that maca may reduce feelings of depression and anxiety.

Studies have shown that maca root can improve blood pressure. There was a 2015 study that found 3.3 grams maca per day for 12 weeks lowered blood pressure in postmenopausal women.

There is evidence that maca root can improve memory and learning in mice. Their still needs to be more research in humans to validate that this will improve memory and learning in human beings. There was a 2011 sun damage study in animals that protected the skin from UV rays. There still needs to be more research on humans as well to validate this.

Maca root has shown to improve benefits of erectile dysfunction in people that have ED issues. There was a small study done on the effects of consuming 2.4 grams of maca root per day for 12 weeks. The subjects in the study group had mild erectile dysfunction and the result of the study showed an improvement in their dysfunction.

Athletes and bodybuilders are known to use maca root as a supplement to increase their energy levels to their workouts. There have been some studies that have supported this. There was also a study that showed that maca root has been able to increase fertility in men.

 A 2016 review study showed that maca root may increase semen quality in both fertile and infertile men. Their still needs to be more research on this but the studies that are available gives some positive promise.
