How to cure a tongue burn? One of the best ways is to rinse your tongue with cold water or salt water. Or you can sprinkle honey or a few grains of sugar to help relieve tongue pain. A tongue burn happens when you eat or drink something that is too hot.

A mild burn will heal by itself, but a serious burn may need medical attention immediately.  If you eat or drink something extremely hot like any foods or beverages frequently it can put you at high risk for tongue burn.

There are different symptoms of a burnt tongue. There is first degree burn, second degree burn or third-degree burn.

First degree burn is when you experience pain in your tongue as well as it being red and swollen. And that is more on the out layer of your tongue.

Second degree burn is really painful because it involves blisters and the outer layer and underlayer of the tongue is injured. Some of the symptoms is the tongue is red and swollen.

Third degree burn is when you experience numbness and extremely severe pain. This affects the deepest tissue of the tongue.

If you have second or three degree burn you should go to a doctor immediately. If your tongue is not treated properly, it can be infected. A burn of a tongue and mouth can destroy taste buds. And it takes 2 to 3 weeks for those taste buds to regenerate.
