How to avoid putting on weight during holidays? We all overeat during the holidays, and it is meant to enjoy time with your family and eat a lot of tasty junk food. I haven’t met one client that skipped holiday junk food festivities ever and I don’t think I ever will.

We all are guilty of getting away from any diet we were on and just splurging during Thanksgiving, Christmas and even New Years’ time. Most people gain the most weight during that time. Because they are enjoying the cookies, cakes, alcohol and any sugary or fatty thing that is baked or fried during that time.

The holiday season and holiday parties are the worst. Why? Because it is so hard to avoid all of those added sugars in all of the food and drinks especially with family and friends.

What do we do to get out of that holiday eating rut and how do we lose that weight? First off you get rid of anything that is junk food or bad calories from your cupboard. You should throw it away or hide it because that will prevent you from tempting yourself to indulge in that.

The healthy foods that you should plan on eating should be near the front of your cupboard. Fruit such as vegetables, pineapples, strawberries, oranges peaches, apples, bananas. And whole grains like brown rice, oatmeal, barley, whole wheat bread. As well as healthy fats which are unsalted almonds, cashews, peanuts, peanut butter.

And high-quality protein foods such as fish, chicken, shrimp, lean beef, turkey. I know this sounds like a cliché, but you are what you eat. Your diet and nutrition foods that you eat will change your health on the inside and the outside.

One of the things that I always tell my clients is the best foods that will suppress your appetite and make you less hungry is fruits and vegetables and drinking lots of water. Why? Fruits and vegetables are extremely high in nutrients and low in calories. Water is zero calories but can fill you up very quickly.

Drinking daily water of six to eight glasses per day and incorporating fruits, and vegetables. And if do that in at least your lunch and dinner meals will prevent you from overeating and keep you full. It will zap your appetite and the remarkable thing about this it is good for you because it is high in fiber. If you do all these things you will have consistent weight loss and weight management. And it will help you avoid the holiday weight gain.

What types of workouts should you do? Here are some good cardio workout exercises you can do weekly which are:

You don’t even have to go to a fitness gym to do any of these cardio workout exercises. You can do this in your living room, your bedroom, your front lawn or even your backyard.
